Acai Berry and it’s Benefits!

The entire world seems to currently be stuck in a health craze, with people trying to improve their diets by eating only healthy foods, exercising and just living an all around healthy and active lifestyle. One of the post popular crazes that is going around currently is the health benefits and other benefits that come from consuming acai berries. There are claims going around that the acai berry is the key to a longer life and can help prevent aging and disease. While the truth behind those claims is yet to be determined until further studies are done, it is known that the acai berry is healthy for you in general.

There are two groups of ingredients in the acai berry that are key in determining how healthy the berry actually is. The two groups of ingredients are anthocyanins and flavonoids. The acai berry, along with other richly colored fruits, gets their color hue mainly due to the anthocyanin that is present in them.  Both anthocyanins and flavonoids fall under the “antioxidant” category, meaning that they can do nothing but good to the body. There are harmful agents that your body produces that are known as “free radicals,” and a diet rich in antioxidants can combat against the damages that free radicals could be responsible for.

Theoretically, free radicals help the aging process follow through, as well as sometimes leaving the body open to disease. Claims are being made that if a diet that includes acai berries is consumed, that the antioxidants found in these berries could help prevent diseases from forming as well as prolonging the aging process; this is theoretically done by antioxidants neutralizing free radicals. There is a lot of talk that the pulp of acai berries has more antioxidants than any other fruit, but studies have yet to prove this to be true.

There are actually quite a few different claims circulating around that say that the acai berry can do much more than prevent disease and prolong the aging process. Claims have been forming that say the acai berry can be responsible for significantly boosting weight loss, improving the look and feel of skin and even make diets healthier, although studies have yet to prove if any of this is certain. What can be said though, is that any diet or weight loss routine can be improved by incorporating foods rich in antioxidants. Skin is also improved with antioxidants which some beauty product manufacturers believe as the acai berry is incorporated into many different consumer beauty products.

While studies have not proven that the superfood known as the acai berry is actually worth what people claim it to be. What is certain is that the acai berry is in fact, loaded with powerhouse antioxidants that are proven to do a number of rather amazing feats. Antioxidants have been shown to improve the quality of skin, boost weight loss and diets and just do amazing things for your body in general. Even though studies have not proved the miracles of the acai berry, nothing bad can come from the consumption of it, so why not try it and see for yourself?
